Hopefully you have been able to practice putting some firm belief in God’s word over the lat few hours. I’ve learned that, Believing God at His word offers freedom in our everyday lives that can’t be captured anywhere else. Even though I usually make a conscious effort to believe what the words of the Father, I noticed that there are some moments that are a little harder for me to lean on that belief. So I focused on really putting that belief to action and I immensely enjoyed letting go yesterday.
Today’s challenge is a little different, but actually gives us a little boost to go deeper with yesterday’s challenge. If you are feeling a little spiritually dried out, disengaged, or just plain off. You are in the right place! This challenge will require us to possibly make a new schedule for ourselves, or shift a few things around. More importantly, it will require us to make mindful decisions during the course of our day. This is why it’s a challenge I guess.
Today we are “Making the Choice to Gorge”. Generally, gorging isn’t exactly looked at as a positive but in this circumstance its OK. We’re choosing to gorge on God’s word. To never get full and eat all we can, whenever we can. “People do not live on bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4. I don’t think most people really look at how essential the word is in our lives until we are dry and wondering what’s going on. You know how it is. One minute you’re on fire for the Lord, feeling on top of your spiritual game and then “all of a sudden”, we feel like we’re out on a raft in the middle of the ocean wondering what happened. Feeling lifeless and blank. Not realizing that somewhere in the journey we have been malnourished. Our appetite for Gods word had been doused by neglect.
So here we are with these thoughts, but what now? What if we did a preemptive strike? What if we stayed full? What if we just kept the hunger enticed by feeding it small doses all day long? Well…..that’s what we are going to do. We are going to fit the word of God in at every opportunity today. When it gets quiet, when we walk by our bibles, when we pick up our phones, or any chance we have space to think about it. Because let’s face it, we need it like air, so we might as well breath it in as often. “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between bone and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” Hebrews 4:12. The Word is life for us. It gives us the power, wisdom and heart we need to be set on fire by the Holy Spirit. We can not neglect our spirits need for a constant serving of God’s word.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your Word. You have given us so much provision through Your promises and guidance. Today God we ask that you please place a burning desire inside of us to gorge on Your word. Let us never get full. Open our eyes to see every opportunity where we can take a bite of scripture. May all these things bring You glory. In Jesus Name AMEN!
May your heart be ever hunger for the food of the spirit!
